Thorpepark 50

The children and staff created and decided on the most important 50 things to experience, learn and be able to do by the time they left primary school. We wanted to make sure our children were given the opportunity to appreciate the wider world then just their community and encounter experiences that will inspire and raise their aspirations for the future. We also focused on key life skills that would be important moving up into secondary like swimming, riding a bike and tying a tie ready for secondary school.

The children and staff generated ideas that could be included in the Thorpepark 50 and then through several school council meetings the children decided which 50 should make the book. The Thorpepark 50 is embedded in our school’s curriculum and is regularly celebrated through assemblies and monthly school newsletters.

Every child that attends Thorpepark from reception stage or when they join is given their own personal Thorpepark 50. We wanted the Thorpepark 50 to be a journal in which a child can record, collect and celebrate their achievements and experiences.

As a designer Shaun brought the pages to life! He used the children’s home city to personalise and created imagines that are familiar to our children. Each page was designed so the child could record the achievement and their experiences. Every step of the way Shaun ensured the feel of the book was child friendly and the high quality images he illustrated are eye catching and give meaning to the children.
